Tech Mahindra joins Symbian Platinum Program
Tech Mahindra, a leading Indian provider of IT services and solutions to telecom companies and among the top ten IT services companies in India, based on export revenues (NASSCOM, 2005), today announced that it has joined the Symbian Platinum Program to support the growing market for mobile phones based on Symbian OS™.
As a Platinum Partner, Tech Mahindra proposes to utilize the opportunity of developing next generation mobile solutions for its customers in the Telecom ecosystem. Tech Mahindra provides product engineering and product lifecycle management solutions to to mobile handset manufacturers worldwide supporting the evolution of handsets with newer technologies. Tech Mahindra is also enabling the growing demand for value-added services by offering its services to roll-out new content services quickly for global telecom service providers.
Symbian develops and licenses Symbian OS, the operating system that powers today’s most popular smartphones. Symbian OS is licensed by the world’s leading mobile phone manufacturers and to date, over 70 million Symbian smartphones have shipped worldwide to over 250 major network operators. Symbian OS phones are growing in popularity. During 2005, Symbian OS phone shipments grew more than 136% compared to the previous year. John Jackson from Yankee Group stated that by 2010, well over 200 million smartphones will be selling worldwide each year, representing 18% of annual global volumes.
